About Skip the Demo
Who runs this
Skip the Demo is written and maintained by Vinoth Kanna, working from Mumbai, India. It is independent and self-funded. There is no team, no agency behind it and no investor — where the site says “we”, that is one person and an explicit method, and it seemed more honest to say so than to write in a corporate voice that implies a newsroom.
I have no commercial relationship with any vendor listed here. I have never been paid by one, and none of them has been given advance sight of what this site says about them. If that ever changes it will be disclosed on this page and on the methodology page before it affects a single ranking.
Why this exists
Buying field service software is unusually hard for a category this mature. Roughly half the vendors will not tell you what they charge until you sit through a demo. Comparison sites recycle each other's numbers until nobody knows which are current. Directory listings are ordered by who pays the most.
This site does one narrow thing well: it records what each vendor actually publishes, with a link and a date, and ranks them against a requirement you can state in a sentence. Where we do not know something, the page says so.
What I am claiming, and what I am not
I am not a plumber, an HVAC contractor or a former field service operator, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise. What this site offers is not trade experience — it is a documented, checkable method applied consistently.
Every price here was read off the vendor's own pricing page, on a date that is printed next to the figure, with a link so you can check it yourself. Currently 15 of 15 vendors are verified that way. Where a vendor hides pricing behind a sales call, the page says that. Where I could not reach a vendor's page at all, the page says that too and shows no number rather than repeating a figure from somewhere else.
That is a deliberately narrow claim, and it is the one thing I will not cut corners on. Judgement calls — strengths, limitations, who a tool suits — are labelled as opinion and kept separate from the sourced facts. You are meant to be able to disagree with the opinion while still trusting the numbers.
What this site will not do
- Sell placement, ordering, or the removal of a limitation.
- Print a price I have not read off the vendor's own page.
- Pad a shortlist to make it look comprehensive.
- Republish a competitor's pricing table as original research.
How this site is paid for
Display advertising only. Vendors cannot buy a listing, a position, or a kinder write-up. The scoring weights that produce every shortlist are published in full on the methodology page, so you can check whether the ranking follows its own stated rules.
Corrections
If a price is out of date or a capability is described wrongly, tell me and I will fix it and update the review date. Corrections are free and do not require any relationship — vendors and readers are treated identically. Reach me at hello@skipthedemo.com or via the contact page.
